Mac and Cheese

A true mutt with a silly name and a big life—rescued from the streets, at home on the town, and never far from the water.

Meet Mac

Mac and Cheese is a true mutt—a Heinz 57 blend of every medium-sized dog you can think of, with a personality bigger than her name.

She turns five in May 2026. She was rescued from the streets of Sanford; her mom couldn’t resist her cuteness, and the feeling was mutual.

The rescue story

Every rescue has a before and an after. Here’s how Mac went from the streets to a life full of love (and golf-cart rides).

  1. Before

Mac came from the streets of Sanford with the kinds of issues many rescues face—worms, fleas, and the rest. Nothing love and a little vet care couldn’t fix.

  2. A fresh start

Her mom got her cleaned up and ready to enjoy life. From day one, it was clear Mac was built for adventure—and good company.

  3. Home

Adoption day was only the beginning. Home for Mac means belly rubs, a spot on the golf cart, and a passport full of memories with her favorite human.

Life now

From the first day of adoption, Mac has been a staple of downtown Sanford—golf-carting to dog-friendly spots and making friends everywhere she goes.

Live music

Mac loves music too—catch her at shows at Tuffy’s and Henry’s Depot.

Home is wherever Mom is

Her mom is a traveling nurse, so Mac has seen more of the country than most—Atlanta, Savannah, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, with stops in Texas to visit family and California (including Napa).

Right now she’s back home in Sanford and ready for summer. She can’t stay out of a pool, the river, or the beach—if there’s water, she’s in it. She might be part fish.

If she’s gone too long, she starts to miss her cousins— Cade (2) and Adaline (8).
